Kegel 9-pin Bowling

Pinsetter

The VOLLMER Sport pinsetter is an example of what our superior technology can offer the Kegel player, reflecting the experience of a world-leading mechanical engineering company.
The player expects perfect, incorruptible hits with short setup times and - should the necessity arise - a quick and effective, electronically controlled disentangling mechanism.
The patented pin centering mechanism greatly reduces the noise of resetting the pins. These VOLLMER Sport machines are built for an extremely long lifetime.
And it goes without saying that all VOLLMER Sport machines are WNBA approved.

Kegel Barn advantages

Ball Collector

The ball collector with its looping system slows the returning balls right down to a standstill.
It is designed for ball diameters from 140 - 180 mm. It fits perfectly into the overall installation and fulfils its function reliably day in, day out.
The design can be adapted on request to your installation.

Lane surfaces

Our lane surfaces are made from laminated segment boards that have a glow-in-the-dark effect under black lights.

The high quality will give years of virtually maintenance free use; just a daily dry mopping and occasional wash will keep the surface looking brilliant for many years.

This product has been tried and tested at numerous world championships.

The lanes are also available with an automatic bumper system.

Kegel Lane Dimensions

A single-lane alley takes up a minimum of space, and blends attractively into the surrounding environment.
A double-lane alley provides ideal conditions for competitive bowling.
Four or more lanes offer a whole spectrum of new possibilities. Alleys of this scope are authorised for international competitions and championships.

Kegel 9-Pin Bowling Computerised Scoring System

Kegel Barn is proud to have developed a computerised scoring system for Kegel 9-pin Bowling that we believe is the best in the world. The Kegel Barn Leisure Game System offers scoring for 36 games across seven menus. Each menu offers games that are suitable for different groups of patrons, ranging from small children, new Kegel 9-Pin bowlers and experienced bowlers looking for a challenge.

The Kegel Barn Leisure Game System has animated graphics throughout, menus are animated, introduction movies are provided for some games, and animated reward graphics appear within games. Game play in each game is optimised to provide the highest level of customer participation and to enhance the bowling experience.

This Kegel Barn Leisure Game System is currently running on 10 lanes in Coffs Harbour, and the response is extremely favourable.

Kegel Barn has a planned development path to expand some of the existing functionality and to add additional features to improve the bowling experience for Kegel 9-Pin bowlers. Additional features are also planned to improve the management and reporting capabilities for the Kegel 9-Pin Bowling centre operator. This development plan has two major objectives,

  1. Allow a Kegel operator to maintain a 9-Pin Bowling Centre that offers game play and computerised scoring that is competitive with other Kegel operators and 10-Pin bowling centres.

  2. Continually improve the bowling experience for customer of Kegel 9-Pin Bowling Centres that are using the Kegel Barn Leisure Game System.

The Kegel Barn Leisure Game System allows up to eight bowlers per lane and menus can be enabled and disabled from the counter PC. Full screen advertising or information can be displayed when a lane is vacant offering the opportunity to generate extra revenue or promote in house products. Lane hire is time based, not game based, a major difference in philosophy from

10-pin bowling. However, with the large variety of games who would only want to play a single game.

Explore the Kegel Barn Leisure Game System menus and individual game details in the related pages. Information on the development schedule, possible pricing and where to buy the Kegel Barn Leisure Game System is also available.

The Kegel Barn Leisure Game System has been designed to work with VOLLMER Kegel 9-Pin Bowling pinsetters but does contain the control codes for Funk pinsetters. At this point compatibility and testing with Funk pinsetters has not occurred.

Mini Lane 10-Pin Bowling - small on space, big on fun

Bowling is enjoying ever greater popularity. However, the floor space and administration required for a classical bowling alley often pose a problem for proprietors of small-scale recreational venues. Mini Lane 10-Pin Bowling is the same as conventional bowling but on a smaller scale. It only requires about 40% of the space and is played with a correspondingly sized ball (140mm) and pins.

Other key advantages

• Small space requirement – fits in anywhere

• No special structural requirements

• “Stand alone“ operation, no service personnel required

• Coin-operated machine without central control

• No need to oil the bowling surface

• Bowling shoes not required

• Side barriers for accident prevention

• Promotional and advertising displays plus fun games

• Main emphasis on fun and activity.

These features open up a whole range of applications for Mini Lane 10-Pin Bowling installations. For example, they can enhance the attractiveness of leisure parks, shopping centres, holiday villages, children’s play and recreation centres, existing bowling centres and the fun and leisure sector in general. Coin-operated systems or “stand-alone“ solutions without service personnel are also possible. And they can incorporate all the familiar features of classical bowling (scoring systems, games and graphics, “glow in the dark“ effects, running lights, bumpers, masking units, etc.).

Mini lanes are virtually maintenance free with a daily static mop of the lane surfaces, cleaning of the run up area, and emptying of the coin boxes required. A weekly check of the machinery and quick clean is recommended. Depending on the level of utilisation a check of the pins and strings is required monthly for very high usage and quarterly for medium to high usage. Mini Lanes can deliver a return on investment in less than one year. Mini Lane 10-Pin Bowling has universal appeal giving pleasure to children their parents and grandparents – fun for all the family.

SnooBowl

The IAAPA is a byword for innovative products and state-of-the-art solutions in the entertainment market. VOLLMER used this fair to present its latest game innovation – the new “SnooBowl“ in November 2006, the SnooBowl centre was in constant use throughout the fair.

SnooBowl is bowling with a snooker or pool cue, a combination of these two extremely popular games. The SnooBowl lane is covered with blue baize and the sides are cushioned for trick shots as with traditional pool tables.

The game is scored by computer so the traditional 10-Pin bowling game with 10 frames can be played but additional games are also included. A custom keyboard is discretely mounted on the lane surface to allow control of the computerised scoring system.

The SnooBowl has a coin operated charging system making it perfect for pubs, arcades etc. It is also a novel new attraction suitable for leisure parks, shopping centres, holiday resorts and sporting clubs.

The SnooBowl lane has the advantage of the fast and virtually maintenance free string pinsetter to provide fast game play and maximise revenue while minimising costs.

SnooBowl dimensions are shown below. It is expected that SnooBowl will be available in mid 2008. Pricing has not been finalised but please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or would like pricing information when it becomes available.

10-Pin String Setters

Some German migrants introduced the game of Kegel 9-Pin Bowling into the USA in 1840, but because of the associated gambling, drinking and cheating,

Kegel was outlawed by the Governor of New York. To avoid this ban the American version of bowling (10-Pin) was invented in 1868. The 10-Pin string pinsetter has a long record of success under tough conditions. The overall design is geared to optimising the knock-down impact, is among the best available. These features, together with a high setup speed, can be relied on to ensure the smooth running of your bowling alley.

Advantages

• Robust, stable design

• Made for continuous use

• Compact and clearly laid out

• Low maintenance costs

The presence of a mechanic is not necessary during games – a fact which operators of large-scale bowling centre's can take advantage of. The significant cut in personnel and spare part costs boosts your profits and increases your flexibility.

10-Pin Bowling

10-Pin Bowling is known to virtually the entire population and most people will have played at least once. This makes 10-Pin not only a known commodity but a destination activity.

Bowling has taken on a fascinating and more modern aspect through adaptation of computer technology and new materials. This extends the possibilities for leisure game play and complements the resurgence of bowling as a fashionable activity as reported in the media and demonstrated by developments such as the Entertainment Development Group’s three Kingpin bowling centres in Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane. 10-Pin Bowling is no longer just for Fred Flintstone and Homer Simpson.

There are actually three times as many bowling centres in Australia now as there were in the 1960s, and given that in the intervening years, many of them closed down. That’s quite a renaissance.

Bowling has been part of Australian life since last century, but fully automatic bowling machines have been common for only the last 30 years.10-Pin Bowling is the most commonly recognised form of bowling in Australia. Our equipment uses quality engineering and a greater simplicity of design to eliminate the mechanic that is required to be permanently on duty in conventional 10-Pin Bowling centres. This makes it viable to install our machinery and bowling lanes into other facilities, not just bowling centres. All bowling machines that we offer use string pin setters. Thus no mechanic is required and the machinery is approximately 30% faster. We also believe that the purchase and operating costs are at least 40% less than conventional bowling equipment. As an extra bonus, all our lane surfaces and pins are glow in the dark. We are able to provide detail of the under floor support requirements (if any), the drop for the machinery, the space requirements for access to the machinery, required lighting and light positioning etc for any of our bowling lanes in any configuration as a free service. We are able to offer servicing of the machines as part of a Service Agreement or on demand. Alternately we can train the handyman or maintenance staff at your venue. If you require more details, or if there is anything else that we can provide to assist you in evaluating the feasibility of a 10-Pin Bowling facility please do not hesitate to contact us via phone or email.

Your venue can capitalise on the proven concept of bowling, and the current resurgence of the sport as a leisure activity.

A modern bowling centre should not look like a converted factory. Glow in the dark lanes and equipment along with computerised scoring and graphics have made bowling a twenty first century sport. With modern scoring systems the range of games and graphics can be suited to the age group and the occasion.
